Domain Name Server changes or changing ISPs

  • GCIO staff will update Domain Name entries held at ausregistry on your behalf.
  • GCIO staff require a minimum of two DN Server entries before the change can be applied, eg dns1.optus.com.au & dns2.optus.com.au
  • A and MX record changes are not managed by GCIO staff. This activity is managed by your ISP or the custodians of your nominated Domain Name servers. Use the DomainName.gov.au whois facility to assist with the identification of your Domain Name servers.
  • If new Domain Name servers are nominated, the old records, eg A and MX records, where applicable, should be removed from your old Domain Name servers, once it is confirmed that your new entries are operating correctly.
